The Lima Performing Arts Festival 2017 ended on Saturday 11. An event organized and produced by five institutions committed to art and culture in Peru, including Universidad del Pacífico Cultural Center. The festival was directed and curated by Marisol Palacios, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Gran Teatro Nacional, ICPNA and the British Council.
The Lima Performing Arts Festival summoned thousands of spectators, who gathered between March 1 and 11. The attendees enjoyed 18 plays, 10 of which 10 were Peruvian and 8 foreign.
"It has been an excellent first edition, with a very high influx of public and artists and technicians involved in the local performing arts sector." The international groups that have come are first class and that has generated many positive comments, the famous word of mouth, which is what makes a play, in this case a festival, work," said Sergio Llusera, Director of Universidad del Pacífico Cultural Center.
The organizing institutions have the firm intention to return to the path of previous experiences, to collaborate in this way with the growth and strengthening of our performing arts. That is why among the international guests came festival programmers from different parts of the world to encourage and promote the internationalization of our artists.
"It has also been an invaluable opportunity to learn how to work together, what practices and processes have been successful and which should be rethought. In general, what should be settled and what should be rethought. And that seems a golden opportunity to me, as it is seldom possible to work in team with 5 so important and prestigious institutions and think about second and third stages. The future is for the festival to continue, definitely. And as we find more strategic partners, grow. The city and the performing arts sector deserve it," explained Sergio.
The closing ceremony was held at Huaca Mateo Salado in Cercado de Lima, with a free performance of the Dance Lab by British artist Lea Anderson.
