University Social Responsibility

University Social Responsibility (RSU) is one of the foundations guiding the actions of Universidad del Pacífico. It is understood as the University's response capacity facing the need to transform society on the way toward a more humane and sustainable development, through the exercise of its main functions: teaching, research, outreach and internal management.

  • Recognition

Universidad del Pacífico was recognized by the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

PRME is the first organized initiative relating the United Nations to business schools worldwide. Its mission is to inspire responsible education and research in management and to think of leadership with a global vision.

On the occasion of the 2012 PRME Global Forum, held in New York, Universidad del Pacífico was recognized for the quality of its reports, which provide "a comprehensive summary of their activities, the detail of their impact, as well as thorough future objectives."

Universidad del Pacífico was recognized as the most socially responsible university in the education sector in 2019, as a result of the reputational ranking made by the Business Monitor of Corporate Reputation (Merco).

The Merco Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance ranking surveys experts and representatives from various sectors such as government, business, civil society, the media, among others. Reputational variables were analyzed in the study, among which are ethical behavior, transparency and good governance, commitment to the environment and to employees.

  • Sustainable reports
Universidad del Pacífico aims to train globally competitive leaders, with initiative and an entrepreneurial spirit, with a comprehensive vision, socially responsible and generators of change. In accordance with this mission, the University has been a signatory and active member of the Global Compact since 2003 and has published its Communication on Progress report since 2006. It has participated in the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME ) since 2011. Likewise, in 2012 and 2013 the University started and continue, respectively, the implementation of the Strategic Plan for University Social Responsibility of the Association of Jesuit Universities in Latin America (AUSJAL network) of which the University is an active member.

The Sustainability Report 2014-2015 integrates the information from the international standard Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which ranked us as the first Peruvian university with a sustainability report and we are part of the twenty universities in Latin America that also have one. The last Sustainability Report 2016-2017 was prepared with a process approach and with a participatory stakeholder analysis method. In addition, the report is unique in its nature since it integrates various systems of indicators and management principles of leading international organizations such as the Global Compact and the PRME -both promoted by the United Nations-, the network of AUSJAL, GRI, among others.
