In order to deepen, with a critical look, the scope of the new Government Procurement Law (Law No. 30556) following El Niño phenomenon concerning the issues related to the construction sector, Universidad del Pacífico School of Law organized the II National Congress of Construction Law 2017: Contributions to transparent and accountable contract management.
Cecilia O'Neill de la Fuente, Vice-Dean of the School of Law at Universidad del Pacífico said that "for the fourth consecutive year the Society of Construction Law (SPDC) has relied on UP as an ally in this outreach project that aims for "construction projects -which are the engine of the country growth- to be successfully carried out".
O'Neill explained that the event seeks to generate spaces for discussion and exchange of experiences.

On the other hand, Gustavo Paredes, Vice-President of the SPDC (Peruvian Society of Construction Law) commented on the different ways to achieve transparency and regulation of the sector and invited attendees to listen to the various points of view and expertise. "We want to discuss issues related to risk management in public and private works as well as dispute forecasting techniques."

The event was attended by several experts from the sector who concluded that the construction industry in the region faces one of the most important challenges in its history: to legitimize the practice of responsible management in this sector in an environment that promotes and consolidates transparency in contracting. In addition, technology has become an ally of transparency, whose contribution is changing the way we manage projects. CONDEC seeks to collect these contributions and propose their discussion in order to contribute to an efficient and responsible reconstruction process in the country.
