Professor Profile

ORESTES BUENO

Professional Profile

Professor and researcher at Universidad del Pacífico Academic Department of Economics and member of Universidad del Pacífico Research Center (CIUP). PhD in Mathematics from Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro (Brasil); holder of a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Peru.
He also undertook postdoctoral training at Instituto de Matermática y Ciencias Afines (IMCA).
He has experience in the areas of Functional Analysis and Convex Analysis applied to the Monotone Operators’ theory. His research aims to find operators’ properties in not necessarily reflective Banach spaces. He has also been Peruvian Scientific Coordinator of the project Variational analysis and its applications to optimization, monotone operators, convex analysis, and Nash equilibrium problems’ under the regional program MATH-AmSud of France - South America cooperation. Currently, he is conducting a theoretical study about generalized monotony (quasimonotony and pseudomonotony).
Dr. Orestes Bueno is currently member of the Instituto de Matermática y Ciencias Afines (IMCA) Optimization Group. He previously served as IMCA’s researcher and full-time professor at Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Peru.
