Professional Profile

President of Universidad del Pacífico. Full professor and researcher at Universidad del Pacífico, with about four decades at the service of his institution. He has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Oxford, a Master’s in Sociology with a major in Population and a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences with a major in Sociology from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

He has served as a visiting researcher affiliated with the Center of Latin American Studies of Oxford University, a researcher at the Johns Hopkins Comparative Nonprofit Sector Project, a member of the Leadership Program in Philanthropy in the Americas, Director of the Leadership and Social Development Program in Latin America / Andean Region, member of the Board of Directors of the Network for the Development of Social Sciences in Peru, Director of the Peruvian Team of the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN), member of the Advisory Board of AVINA, visiting researcher in the PASCA Program from Harvard University and at St. Antony's College (University of Oxford, United Kingdom), among other academic activities.

He has been President (2009 - 2014), Director of the Research Center (1999 - 2004) and President of the University Press (1991 - 2014) at Universidad del Pacífico.

Specialization Areas

Economic and social history, studies on the third sector, volunteering and philanthropic activities in Peru and Latin America, corporate social responsibility, social capital and democracy.
