October 12 , 2018

Elsa Del Castillo, president   of Universidad del Pacífico, is one of Peru’s top 20 leaders in terms of reputation and the first placed in the education sector, according to the 2010 Merco Ranking.

#OrgulloUP. On Wednesday, October 10, the results of the 2018 Merco Ranking of companies and leaders was revealed; Elsa Del Castillo, president of Universidad del Pacífico, was the third highest-place woman, ranked 19th overall.

The ranking recognized a total of 100 executives from various sectors, particularly mining, industry, services and education; in the latter sector, Del Castillo emerged as the leader with the best reputation.

In the ranking, each business leader’s reputation is based on respondents’ perceptions of their public actions and how these were communicated.

Beyond her rectorship of the UP, Elsa Del Castillo is recognized for her academic achievements, especially her interest in research and knowledge as a contribution to the development of society, as well as for her role in promoting female leadership in the business sector and corporate social responsibility, among other issues.

"The lines are clear: the challenge remains for our university to be a leader not only in the country, but recognized throughout the region. In this context, the UP's international position must be based on its academic quality, its contribution to solving the country's problems, and the professionals it educates, who must be distinguished for their high level of technical mastery and comprehensive training since they will be the key players in the development of Peru and its organizations, "Del Castillo told the El Comercio newspaper regarding her priorities, upon assuming the rectorship.

Merco Ranking
