MARÍA PÍA BASURTO

Professional Profile

Fulltime professor in the Department of Economics and researcher at CIUP. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (United States); an M.A. in Economics from the same university and a bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico.

She been evaluation coordinator at the Ministry of Education of Peru, research analyst at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), project coordinator at Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL), and research assistant at Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE). She has also been a consultant to the World Bank, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Peru, and the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion of Peru. She has fieldwork experience in Chile, Malawi and Peru.
