NORBERTO BARRETO

Professional Profile

A researcher at Universidad del Pacífico Research Center and full-time professor at Universidad del Pacífico Academic Department of Humanities. He holds a PhD in U.S. History from the State University of New York (United States) and a Master’s degree in History from Universidad de Puerto Rico.
As a specialist in U.S. history and international relations, his research focuses on American imperialism practices, discourse, and institutions within Asia and Latin America. His current research areas are the development of diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between Peru and the United States.
Barreto is a member of the Observatory of Peru-United States Relations and creator and administrator of the log book El Imperio de Calibán where he addresses issues regarding U.S. history. He has taught at universities in the United States (Stony Brook University, Hofstra University), Spain (Universidad Complutense), Puerto Rico (Universidad de Puerto Rico, Universidad Metropolitana, Universidad Interamericana) and Peru (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú).
