En tiempos en que la competitividad es un asunto fundamental y de presencia y discusión obligada en ámbitos empresariales y académicos, el concepto de ventaja competitiva demuestra su vigencia y proyección futura.
Este texto plantea un acercamiento a la evolución de la ventaja competitiva, además de una aproximación al desarrollo de la misma y a las ideas clave que la fundamentan. Seguidamente, se profundiza en cuatro fuentes de ventaja competitiva de gran importancia en las últimas décadas y con gran proyección a futuro: el conocimiento y su gestión; la innovación; el posicionamiento y la marca; y la responsabilidad social. Luego, se contínua con la presentación de un modelo para la construcción de ventajas competitivas sostenibles de fácil aplicación en el mundo empresarial. Finalmente, se cierra el texto planteando un enfoque que considera a la pasión como fuente de ventaja competitiva; y se presenta un anexo con un acercamiento al mencionado concepto desde el punto de vista de cuarenta gerentes de empresas peruanas de tamaño pequeño, mediano y grande, quienes fueron entrevistados para fines de este proyecto.
