Universidad del Pacífico’s Postgraduate School offers four specialization areas in its Master’s Degree in Finance:

  1. Corporate Finance Management 
  2. Investment Portfolio Management
  3. Microfinance Institution Management
  4. Financial Risk Comprehensive Management

Each of these specializations comprises a high quality innovative curriculum meeting international standards that allows further in-depth studies in areas suiting labor market demands and the participant’s own professional growth plan.


INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION CFA INSTITUTE PROGRAM PARTNER

A renowned nonprofit organization of the global investment community gathering over 100,000 professionals working in more 130 countries.

Approximately 100 international renowned universities follow the CFA study program in their courses. Many regulatory organizations have accepted CFA certification to recognize professional capacities in investment management. 

The Master’s Degree in Finance with a concentration on Investment Portfolio Management has been recognized as a CFA Institute Program Partnership Member after meeting all the organization’s requirements, including a full study program for levels I, II and III of the Chartered Financial Analyst examinations. Students will be provided with all CFA institute textbooks required to prepare for the three levels of examination.


ASSOCIATION OF CERTIFIED INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT ANALYSTS

60,000 investment practitioners worldwide

This organization awards the Certified International Investment Analyst CIIA® certification, recognized in over 30 countries of the European and international financial community and by many regulatory organizations. Such recognitions ensure the professional skills of certificate-holders.

Specialization students in the investment portfolio management program may obtain the CEFA (AACSB) certificate after completing all the master’s degree courses. In addition, they will be prepared to obtain CIIA® certification.


AMERICAN ACADEMY OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (AAFM)

World standards and accreditation organization for finance practitioners recognized by the Association for the Advance of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

With members in over 150 countries, it provides certification in various financial specialization areas.

Graduates from any specialization area enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Finance may also obtain AAFM certification


ASSOCIATION WITH PIP (COMPREHENSIVE PRICE PROVIDER)*

A Mexican company specialized in ongoing assessment and valuation of investment instruments, performance indicators and inputs and indicators for risk management. It operates in all Latin American countries, including Peru.

Students enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Finance with a focus on investment portfolio management will be prepared to obtain valuation certification provided  jointly by Universidad del Pacífico’s Postgraduate School and PIP. They may also join a valuation laboratory and compete internationally with their innovative proposals to meet challenges proposed by PIP.

ASSOCIATION WITH THE FINANCIAL STUDIES FOUNDATION (FEF)


FEF is a Spanish think tank focusing on financial markets.

Through the Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts (IEAF), FEF is a member of ACIIA and is its exclusive representative in Spain, Argentina and Peru.

The Peruvian Finance Association is an ACIIA member and through an agreement with FEF, has designated with Universidad del Pacífico as the only training organization for providing CIIA certification.

FEF will award students in the Master’s Degree in Finance program specializing on investment portfolio management a Master’s Degree in Financial and Portfolio Management at the end of the respective study programs.


 

SKILLS


Specialization and Corporate Finance Management 

Description: This program provides  comprehensive training in the use of financial techniques and tools that allow students to guide and manage corporate financial decision making. 

Student Profile: Professionals in the finance, treasury and planning departments of intermediate-size companies and corporations, as well as in financial systems in the business, risk, investment banking and finance areas

Academic Degree: The Master’s Degree student is awarded:

a Master´s Degree in Finance, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico and 

a Diploma in Corporate Finance Management, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico.

International certification: After completing the Master´s Degree program, students may obtain certification awarded by AAFM, the American Academy of Financial Management


Specialization in Microfinance Institution Management - Corporate Format

Description: A Master’s Degree program offering comprehensive education, knowledge, tools and techniques to serve a business segment with specific needs. This training allows participants to conduct operating and commercial processes at any type of financial institution.

Student profile: Professionals working in regulated microfinance organizations and NGOs’ loan, risk, finance and commercial departments.

Academic Degree: Master’s Degree students will earn a degree in:

Master in Finance, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico and 

Diploma in Microfinance Organization Management, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico.

International certification: At the end of the Master’s program, students may obtain certification awarded by AAFM, the American Academy of Financial Management


Specialization Investment Portfolio Management - General Audience Format

ONLY CFA PROGRAM PARTNER IN PERU

Description: this program provides specialized practical training in decision making for successful investments in various types of assets and investment tools.

Student Profile: Professionals working in the investment, portfolio management and analysis areas for institutional investors in financial and capital markets, or for specific clients with diverse investment profiles and objectives.

Professionals working with financial organizations, pension, mutual, investment  and alternative funds, stock exchange brokerages, private banking organizations, family or personal wealth management organizations and  investment consultancies, generally.

Academic Degree: Master’s Degree students are awarded: 

Magister Degree in Finance, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico, 

Diploma in Investment Portfolio Management, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico.

Master’s Degree in Financial and Portfolio Management, awarded  by Fundación de Estudios Financieros

CEFA certification (optional).

International Certification: After completing the Master’s Degree study program, students will be ready to take the following examinations:

Levels I, II and III of the Chartered Financial Analyst Certification, awarded by the CFA Institute.

CIIA® Certification (Certified International Investment Analyst), awarded by the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACIIA).

Valuation certification awarded jointly by the Postgraduate School at Universidad del Pacífico and PIP, Comprehensive Price Provider.

In addition, interested students may choose to obtain the Certified European Financial Analyst Certification, CIIA® first level,  awarded by CEFA, after completing their Master’s Degree study programs. Certification will be awarded at the end of the program.

Master’s Degree students who complete their study programs will be awarded a Master’s Degree in Financial and Portfolio Management awarded by Fundación de Estudios Financieros.


Specialization in Comprehensive Financial Risk Management  - Corporate format

Description: A Master’s Degree study program providing comprehensive training,  knowledge, tools and techniques to identify, evaluate, quantify, manage and monitor financial risks in corporate commercial, operative and investment processes.

Student Profile: Professionals working in finance, financial controllership and planning departments in medium- size companies and corporations, as well as in financial risk, credit, treasury, investment, audit, processes, accounting and finance areas.

Academic Degree: Students completing their Master’s Degree study program will be awarded: 

A Magister Degree in Finance, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico and 

A Diploma in Comprehensive Financial Risk Management, awarded by Universidad del Pacífico. 

International Certification: After completing their Master’s Degree study program, graduates may obtain certification awarded by the American Academy of Financial Management (AAFM).


 
OBJECTIVES


The Master’s Degree in Finance seeks to make a positive contribution  to the nation’s economic development and social well-being by creating strong management teams with advanced financial knowledge and tools to come forward with quality solutions to financial issues both from the strategic and operative standpoints.

BENEFITS

INTERNAL DOUBLE DEGREE OPTION 

The Master’s Degree in Finance provides the option to earn:

1. An additional specialization in finance 

Students having completed all the common and specialized courses may request their immediate admission to any of the remaining specializations in the Master’s Degree in Finance program.

2. MBA

After completing their Master’s Degree study program, students may validate their credits in the MBA program.


LEVELING INTRODUCTORY COURSES

To ensure participants will start their study program with the academic foundation to pursue more sophisticated course offerings, a compulsory free of charge program is taught at the beginning of the study program, including a case study methodology  and Excel tools workshops.


INTERACTIVE LEARNING METHODOLOGY: THE ERA METHOD

Universidad del Pacífico has designed its ERA (Experience-Reflection-Action) method to give students comprehensive and dynamic training and learning that can be directly applied to to specific business conditions. This method combines theory and practice and applies state of the art educational technology and methods. 


ONLINE LEVELING COURSE 

Introductory online courses are taught before the start of the regular term to provide students who do not hold a Bachelor’s Degree in administration, economics, accounting or industrial engineering or those wishing to enroll in up-to-date or refresher courses with the required academic tools for a better performance during their stay in our programs. 


FINANCIAL LABORATORY 

​Master’s Degree in Finance students may join a financial laboratory to acquire the basic tools for financial information analysi.  These tools can be readily used in a professionals practice. DATATEC and Bloomberg terminals provide students with real time information on financial instrument valuation at individual and aggregate level.


NETWORKING

Access to a network of over 2,400 school graduates who are outstanding practitioners in Peru’s best known companies.


ACCESS TO THE PERUVIAN FINANCE ASSOCIATION (EPPF)

The Peruvian Finance Association brings together professionals in senior financial positions in Peru’s main companies. The Association’s  mission is to contribute to develop, train and permanently educate professionals on economic and financial matters, and to enforce outstanding ethical and professional development standards. APEF offers special annual membership fee discounts to graduates and diploma holders of the Master’s Degree in Finance programs.


Q&A SESSIONS 

These sessions provide participants the opportunity to interact with national and international experts and thoroughly  discuss class topics. Moreover, they contribute to develop the participant’s management competencies and skills. Consultative Committe members actively participe in Q&A sessions.       


GLOBAL LEARNING

Wharton Global Consulting Practicum – WGCP (Optional) 

At WGCP-UP program, Universidad del Pácifico’s Master’s Degree students and Wharton School’s MBA participants team up in a international consulting team that proposes Peruvian companies strategies and action plans needed to penetrate  US markets. 

Main client companies include:

Aedes (Arequipa), Alicorp S.A. (Lima), Creditex (Lima), Incasur (Lima), Jorvic (Lima), Michell y Cia. (Arequipa), Mincetur (Lima), Pats (Lima), South West Marble & Stone (Lima), Topy Top (Lima), Vinos Tacama (Ica,), Wayra (Lima).


The program includes working sessions with customers, working meetings in Lima and Pennylsivania, videoconferencing and workshops to develop consultancy skills. Project results are presented during the May Colloquium in Wharton.


Study Abroad

Students may choose to enroll for an academic term at any of the 30 academic organizations with which Universidad del Pacífico has signed postgraduate-level exchange agreements.


The basic requirements for studying abroad are as follows: 

  • A minimum of 36 approved academic credits.
  • Paying transportation to and cost of living in the foreign destination
  • Speaking the language of instruction of the foreign country
  • Pay the corresponding tuition fees


China Study Trip (optional)

The China Study Trip enhances the participant’s cultural and business knowledge.

During a whole week, participants attend keynote lectures on regional economic analysis, Asia’s regional economy and negotiation skills in China, a nation bound to become the world’s largest economy by 2050.

In addition, the program includes visits to companies to share experiences with the organizations’ managers. The main topics addressed include macroeconomic and finance, modern China’s economics, technological innovation in China, Chinese business culture, and private enterprise growth.


Wall Street, NY Study Trip (optional)

A trip to know and explore the opportunities and challenges in Wall Street, New York, the world’s financial capital. During a week, participants will visit the world’s most recognized investment banks, portfolio management companies and the New York Stock Exchange to become familiar with their operations. They also attend talks on market operations, issues and perspectives, and directly interact with professionals from those organizations.
