Perú Moda, a showcase that exhibits the most representative of the textile and design industry of the country, was held at Centro de Convenciones de Lima from April 25 to 27. This year, 250 exporters from the garment and decoration industry participated. The aim is to promote contact between entrepreneurs and the main importing companies of the five continents. This year, nearly 1,000 buyers came to Peru.
The students of the International Business program at Universidad del Pacífico participated as facilitators, both in the guidance of foreign guests and in negotiations between exporters from the different regions of Peru and importers from the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
"I think it's an important event because, thanks to the fairs, many producers make themselves known and have contact with potential customers," says Antonella Durand, a student who supports a jewelry designer.
The fair constitutes an exhibition platform for the Peruvian textile industry.
Antonella recognizes that attending Perú Moda is a good experience for her career, since she had contact with importers and exporters. "From the vendors, I learned how to present the product and deal with the customer. On the other hand, from the attendees, I learned how to negotiate and create contacts".
The event had an impact on the way attendees see the fashion business today. In Antonella's case, the experience allowed her to have this field of work on her radar today. "I liked it because I had never attended a fair and I feel that they are an important part of my career in the future. In addition, I learned a lot with the businesswoman that I had to help since she told me about her experience in the field and gave me advice in case I want to start my own company.
