With the aim of promoting proposals that improve proactive citizen leadership, the XIV Ibero-American Meeting of Civil Society will be held this September 17, 18 and 19 at Universidad del Pacífico. This event, which will be held for the first time in Peru, will bring together more than 60 Ibero-American specialists who will discuss mechanisms to strengthen citizen organizations.
The objective of the event is to promote ways of interaction between these organizations with the public and private sectors to solve social problems and promote development. Attendees will learn about international and national success stories, as well as important opportunities in Peru to establish alliances aimed at social innovation and sustainable development. The organization of the meeting in the country has been led by Asociación Unacem and Universidad del Pacífico.
Among the national speakers are Mariana Alegre, executive director of the Lima Cómo Vamos observatory; Jorge Medina, member of the Board of Transparency; Beatriz Boza, partner and regional leader at E&Y; Roberto Abusada, president of the Peruvian Institute of Economics; Felipe Portocarrero, chair of the department of Social and Political Sciences at Universidad del Pacífico; among others. Among the international speakers are Bernardo Toro, country responsible at Fundación Avina; José Sulbrandt, professor at Universidad de Chile; Javier Nadal, President of the Spanish Association of Foundations and President of Encuentros Iberoamericanos de la Sociedad Civil, among others.
At the end of this event, the Lima Charter, which will include the main commitments of the participating institutions, will be signed.
