This seminar provide an overview on how to take actions or make decisions on dynamical systems such that these perform in a desired manner. This excursion through predictive theory will take the student from very basics techniques such as PID control and state feedback to more advance schemes including optimal control and (economic) model predictive control.
This seminar promote technical training in Logistics applied to Humanitarian Operations and Disasters, addressing its history, characteristics and difficulties through: Presenting Logistics concepts applied in disaster situations; provide subsidies to support decision making during the disaster preparedness, response and recovery phases; highlight the effects of decisions in the management of the humanitarian supply chain; address the issue of donations and methods of screening to better assist displaced persons. It aso demonstrate the importance of knowledge management in humanitarian actions and to suggest actions that help reduce the recurrence of errors, bringing more assertiveness to operations.
As data becomes abundant in our society, it becomes more important to learn deriving useful information or patterns from data. The objective of this seminar is to give students an opportunity to expose themselves to various methods of data analyses, especially panel data analysis. Students will be able to find (or quantify) a relationship or correlation between economic variables by utilizing regression analysis. They learn estimation and hypothesis testing using data collected in the real world and to answer positive (not normative) economic questions. While taking this seminar, students will also learn making word clouds with text files in order to get familiar with R cording at the beginning of the semester.
This seminar presents the main notions of sustainable urban logistics planning and management, as well as gives the bases of forecasting, assessment and evaluation methods to support sustainable urban logistics strategical and tactical decisions.
This seminar present the main concepts of the computational intelligence methods: Artificial Neural Networks, Evolutionary Computation and Fuzzy Logic; and shows how these technologies can be applied to different real problems, such as time series forecasting, pattern classification and clustering (segmentation) problems. It will also train the participants to work actively in applying these techniques in real world projects.
